Bike & Roll to School Day 2018

Jefferson's Bike & Roll to School Day
is Wednesday, April 18!

Our participation is part of a citywide week of events, involving 85 schools in San Francisco, celebrating getting around by means of the most efficient self-powered form of transportation in existence - the bicycle.  Bike & Roll to School Day gives students, parents, caregivers, and school staff the opportunity to raise the visibility of biking while promoting outdoor fun, safety, physical activity, healthy habits, and respect for the environment.

Every Jefferson student - and every member of the Jefferson community - is encouraged to bike, scooter, skateboard, skate, walk, carpool, ride a bus, take MUNI, jog, stroll, or otherwise get to school in a green way on Wednesday morning, April 18All cyclists should feel free to use the bike racks in the Kindergarten Yard or outside the Middle Yard on 18th Avenue, no matter what grade they are in. Do remember to bring a bike lock, especially for bikes parked outside school grounds in the 18th Avenue rack. Smaller equipment such as folding scooters, skateboards, and skates should be taken to class to leave room in the racks for bikes.

On Wednesday morning, April 18, please encourage your children who are participating to stop by the tables in the Middle Yard or the Kindergarten Yard before school starts to collect a few special goodies to celebrate their participation in Jefferson's Bike & Roll to School Day 2018.  You can enter to win a family bike online by May 20 or at the tables on April 18.  Students can then go find A.J. by the flagpole in the Upper Yard where they can make their mark on our "How I got to school" poster.

Now let's get ready to roll!
